Spatiotemporal characteristics of seasonal to multidecadal variability of pCO2 and air-sea CO2 fluxes in the equatorial Pacific Ocean

A novel strategy of EOFs in a time-time domain is demonstrated, for the first time, and identified the spatio-temporal locking of the equatorial Pacific pCO2 and CO2 fluxes related to the various flavors of ENSO. The study also brought out a few aspects of multi-decadal variability in the equatorial Pacific, where the carbon cycle variability is the largest among the global oceans, and examined its impact on pCO2/CO2 fluxes.
