Launch of GSDP

 

Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune (IITM, Pune) conducting two courses on ‘Emission Inventory’ and ‘Pollution Monitoring (Air & Water Pollution)’  under Government of India’s priority project Green Skill Development Programme(GSDP) as part of the national wide initiative taken by ENVIS secretariat, MoEF&CC. There was overwhelming response in both the courses. In each of the courses, around 370 people applied and after several round of screenings and following the laid down criteria, thirty candidates for each course have been selected for the course. However, 24 candidates for Emission inventory course and 22 candidates for Pollution Monitoring course have finally joined these courses. The Emission Inventory course was the unique course organized only by IITM-ENVIS in India and hence attracted participants from all parts of India. Course structure has been designed in such a way that participants remain engaged and absorbed fruitfully to become champions in all related aspects of their professional carrier. The focus of the course was kept more towards practical hand-on training. Filed experiments were conducted to enable participants to tackle the data collection and implementation professionally and effectively which will enhance their employability. It will also contribute in preserving or restoring the quality of the environment, while improving human well-being and social equality. Different Environmental sectors are the potential employer of these skill participants after they get out of successful completion of these courses.  

First batch of Emission Inventory & Pollution Monitor course has been completed successfully on 25th September 2018 & 12th October 2018 respectively & empowered 46 participants.   The course result was 100% which not only reflect the quality of the participants but also their interest towards the training. Out of them 6 candidates has already been absorbed by various governmental/nongovernmental organization based on the knowledge & expertise they obtained due to training.
