International Day for Biological Diversity 2021 & Commemorating 25 Golden Years of Atmospheric Chemistry Research at IITM

IITM-ENVIS, Pune is a Resource Partner (RP) to the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India on the thematic area of the “Atmospheric pollution and Climate Change”. 

ENVIS program is made active partner of "Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat" program of Ministry of Education, Government of India. In (EBSB) programme the State Maharashtra is paired with Odisha and in context of ENVIS mandate we are curious to explore the scientific as well as cultural aspects of the Odisha.

In view of this, we are observing second program under EBSB program, "International Day for Biological Diversity-2021"  and Sri Maloth Mohan, IFS, Chairman cum Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Odisha Biodiversity Board will be our Chief Guest for the program and will be delivering an interesting educational talk on rich " Biological Diversity of Odisha State ".

Due to pandemic situation the event will be held online on  IITM You Tube Live on 21st May, 2021 and students from various schools and colleges, IITM Colleges and others can join Live on IITM You Tube channel.

The "Online Quiz Competition" is organised on the concluded educational webinar, the link for quiz will be activated for an hour just after the webinar.

As part of "Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat" Program, an Environment-Biodiversity & Odissi Dance Cultural Program based on few winning entries, received in "Online Dance Competition" ( Based of the theme Biodiversity, Nature, Mother Earth and Odisha classical & Folk dance) will be part of the online event.

The event will followed by an online program to honour  Dr. Gufran Beig, Scientist - G, IITM for his significant contributions in the field of  Air Quality, Weather and  Climate Sciences.  

Dr. Gufran Beig is attaining his superannuation on 31st May 2021.
