Research Highlight

Regional variation of electrical and lightning properties of thunderclouds during the pre-monsoon season over the north-eastern and eastern part of India

  • Thunderclouds over Rampurhat and Kohima are found to be associated with distinct electrical and lightning properties.
  • Thunderclouds over Rampurhat undergo larger changes in electric field, flash density, IC:CG ratio, colder cloud tops and are associated with strong mixed phase processes compared to Kohima (Biswasharma et al., 2022, Atmospheric Research).
