The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, and the Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing hydro-meteorological research and community engagement in climate science. The MoU, signed on 9th September 2024, by Dr. R. Krishnan, Director of IITM, and Dr. Marcella D'Souza, Director of WOTR, signifies a strategic effort to combine scientific research and community outreach. The MoU is effective from 9th Sept 2024 for 3 years, followed by subsequent renewal for next 2 years.
This partnership aims to explore innovative methods for monitoring hydro-meteorological variables while promoting research and training efforts. The collaboration will leverage IITM’s techno-scientific expertise and WOTR’s extensive network, especially in the rural areas. Coordinated by Dr. Bhupendra Bahadur Singh (Sc-E & Incharge, IITM-COSMOS) this MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. J. Sanjay (Project Director, CCCR-IITM), Dr. Yogesh Tiwari (Sc-F & Incharge-Climate Observations, CCCR-IITM), Dr. Aju CD, Dr. Madhusudan Ingale, and Mr. Amey Datye from IITM’s Centre for Climate Change Research and Dr. Nitin Kumbhar, Dr. Vijay Solanky, and Ms. Sahana Hegde from WOTR.
