Reaching Pune
The city of Pune, located in the State of Maharashtra, is
situated on the foothills of the Sahyadri Mountain Ranges, also known as
the Western Ghats. Pune lies on lat. 18 30'N and long. 74 55'E at an
altitude of 1500 ft., in the western part of the Indian peninsula.
Pune can be reached directly from most other Indian cities by air, rail
or road. The nearest city to Pune is Mumbai.
By Air:
Most of the international flights arrive at the international air ports
at New Delhi and Mumbai (Bombay). It takes half an hour to reach Pune
from Mumbai and two hours from capital city New Delhi Although the Pune
is just 170 km from Mumbai, Participants are encouraged to fly through
New Delhi, because the connecting flights between New Delhi and Pune are
excellent as all the flights arrive after midnight. IITM is located
about 15 kms from the Lohegaon Airport, Pune. The flight details can be

By Rail:
Mumbai-Pune railway line is about 192 kms long. The distance from the
Pune Railway Station to the IITM is around 10 kms. To know more about

Indian Railway
By Road:
Mumbai-Pune road distance is about 170 kms, and there is an excellent
expressway recently built. Most buses, taxis and private cars from/to
Mumbai use this expressway. One can book a shared taxi (fare: approx.
Rs.500) from Mumbai airport to any dropping point in Pune.
Travelling in Pune:
Autorikshaws and bus services are available from the Pune Railway
Station. If you are new to Pune city, the most convenient way of
travelling is by metered autorickshaws.
